The Sequel comes in a standard length of 2m, compared to the Premier’s 1.5m. Like the Premier, it uses silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors twisted together to aid EMI/RFI rejection, but in the Sequel the conductor geometry is improved with optimised thickness of the individual strands. The Sequel also incorporates more advanced ‘active’ shielding under its PVC outer sheath, to the same standard used in IsoTek’s more costly power cables.

Isotek’s most affordable mains cable, the EVO3 Premier was inspired by discussions with high-end electronics companies, many of whom produce audio equipment that retails for tens of thousands of pounds and yet is bundled with poor quality power cords that significantly constrain performance.

This led them to produce a high-quality alternative that respects standard geometric principles, but where every single element is carefully considered, implemented and manufactured to the highest possible standard. There are many brands offering high- quality power cables but these are often very expensive, and also impractical because of their inflexibility and weight. The goal was to attain similar levels of performance from a more practical cable at a fraction of the price.

Hailed by reviewers worldwide for breaking new ground at its price point, IsoTek’s entry level EVO3 Premier is a high performance, low-cost power cable that offers a realistic solution for anyone seeking an affordable upgrade over the freebie ‘kettle’ leads supplied with most audio and AV equipment. Now the Premier is joined by the new EVO3 Sequel, an upgraded but still highly affordable power cable offering a number of additional benefits.

Why ‘dirty power’ is a problem

The power that enters your audio components from the wall socket is distorted by the pollution on the mains supply. Sensitive equipment, particularly audio electronics cannot perform to their full potential. The biggest two offenders are Differential Mode and Common Mode mains noise.

Differential Mode Noise

differentialDifferential Mode mains noise is created by all electrical appliances – everything with a power supply, in fact. This includes your microwave oven, your television and your computer, as well as every hi-fi component you own. Take a look around your home and count how many devices you have plugged into your power sockets, each of these will be corrupting the mains sine wave and eroding the quality of the AC power that feeds your high-quality audio system.

Common mode noise

commonCommon Mode mains noise is often referred to as RFI – Radio Frequency Interference. Imagine how much data is transmitted by smartphones and tablets – cheap power cables act as aerials for these unwanted frequencies. The use of wifi and wireless technology is increasing at an exponential rate. Just think about all the data that you send and receive on your smart phone. We are bathed in a sea of Common Mode noise.

The need for clean power

The escalation of mains-borne ‘noise’ means that the need for clean power technology has never been greater. ‘Differential mode noise’ is especially exacerbated by the switch-mode power supplies that are common in many modern devices, from computers to kitchen appliances. ‘Common mode noise’ is ever-increasing thanks to wireless networking in the home, with mobile phones, wi-fi and Bluetooth soaking us in a sea of airborne interference.

The quality of electricity we feed our audio and AV systems has a profound effect on performance, and that’s where IsoTek’s unique clean-power solutions come in. Without a clean power source, you are only accessing around 80 per cent of your system’s full potential.

IsoTek’s unique power cleaning systems, designed specifically for use with audio and audio visual electronics, can dramatically improve your systems performance. Expect a quieter noise floor, more extended frequency range, better imaging with a more stable sound stage, with no loss of timing or dynamics, a fact that has been proven by consistently positive reviews and awards over the last 15 years.
