True 4K Projection more affordable than ever!

While 4K televisions have become the norm over the last few years, the comparatively high price of 4K projectors have seen more people purchasing Full HD projectors or projectors that offer ‘4K upscaling’ rather than investing in True 4K projection.

However, with the increased amount of Ultra HD Blu Rays available to buy and more and more people streaming 4K content from services like Netflix & Amazon Video it’s exciting to see that 4K projection is becoming even more affordable. True 4K isn’t like going to the movies – it’s better!

What is ‘True 4k’ ?

Native 4K is an aspect ratio of 17:9 or 4096 x 2160. That is approximately 8.8 million pixels. This is a 4x increase on ‘Full HD’ which offered a resolution of 1920×1080, or approximately 2.073 million pixels.

Sony projectors deliver a True 4K image by using 3 RGB 4096 x 2160 panels. Effectively to achieve 4K they have over 25 million active pixels across 3 LCOS panels inside the projector.

The difference here is that some of the other 4K options on the market rely on various technologies to artificially create a 4K image. With a Sony 4K projector there is no ‘magic trick’. Every pixel from the source is accurately reproduced on the screen to deliver an awe-inspiring, cinematic home theatre experience – just what we’ve been waiting for.
